Our Story

When I set sail to this company, it was with a desire to bring back traditional elegance dipped in decadence. Ah! The allure of all things delectable and refined. That had always been the standard for centuries in our society, but somehow the age of machines slowly shrank the joy of all things handmade and handcrafted.

That underlying richness of yore was replaced, and over time redefined, into simplicity. Grand wasn’t elegant anymore and affluence got the side eye. But what if I didn't want to be simple? The fact is, some people can never be simple in taste. They like to self indulge and take profound joy in deriving elegance out of curated extravagance.

When I entered stores in hopes of finding elegant goods I did love a lot of things, but more often than not, our rich and lush heritage was missing - that pride in handcrafted glory was gone. Mostly everything on display would be toned down to suffocated versions of what could be… grooming us quietly into thinking that only subtle is elegant. Don't get me wrong, I am not deriding simplicity. There is elegance in subtlety, true, but it is also true that beautiful cannot be restricted to minimalistic. I for one didn’t want to be restricted.

Quite the contrary, I wanted to surround myself with all things refined - tasteful concepts crafted with finesse to uplift every inch of my house. I wanted finesse in everything seen and unseen - why shouldn't the napery under the crockery be as inspiring as the artistry on the crockery? After all, it is in my space and I have chosen it, so why should I choose the mundane?
And so began my journey of reimagining aesthetics and finding a way of reintroducing them. I pursued art, literature and architecture.

I tapped into my imagination which was fired up every time I travelled or even saw a period drama on the telly. I took note of the age-old styles and traditions of households across the globe, the ambience in which they thrived and how they kept alive their unique heritage.

And then I noticed something very fascinating! Every culture in every era, successfully achieved the pinnacle of style by Mastering the Art of Hosting. Hosting of family, friends and guests from different walks of life brought about, and still does, an incredible interaction of ideas, styles and flair. A perfect host doesn’t just put out sumptuous food, they put together their finest napery, crockery, cushions, flowers and the best pieces they own.

All hosts realised that in their very courtyards would take place, not just a meeting of people, but an exchange of energies and ideas accompanied by emotions of happiness, laughter, thrill and contentment. And in order to make this exchange grand, they learnt to curate wisely and distinctly.
